BIOGRAPHY

""Alan Smart is a Senior Associate at ACIL Allen and Chair of the Tasmanian Spatial Information Council. He consults in economics, policy and strategy in the energy, infrastructure, geospatial and space sectors. Alan has undertaken economic studies of the value of geospatial and digital systems in Australia and internationally. His work has addressed the use of geospatial systems in surveying and mapping, planning and construction, energy, water, natural resources, emergency management, transport, navigation, cities, local government and in the delivery of health and human services. He has a deep knowledge of economic evaluation techniques including evaluation of environmental and social values. Alan is qualified in Engineering and Economics. He is Chair of the Tasmanian Spatial Information Council. His past appointments include Member of the Board of the Tasmanian Economic Regulator and Chair of the Spatial Information Business Association." "

PRESENTATION SUMMARY

Alan will be speaking in the 'Into the Future' plenary, and will join the panel discussion based on 'Australia’s future market combining space and spatial – a dialogue'. Sandy Carruthers (Deputy Chair and space representative, The Australia and New Zealand Land Information Council (ANZLIC)) will also be joining the discussion, and they will both be interviewed by Dr Zaffar Sadiq Mohamed-Ghouse, Chair, Locate Conferences Australia.
