young professionals, early career researchers & STUDENTS

Young Professionals, Early Career Researchers and Students are the future of our industry. The contribution that younger professionals make to the development of new technologies, innovative ideas and complex projects should not be underestimated. This year, Locate is celebrating the work and achievements of our future leaders with a dedicated Symposium.

The Symposium will showcase some of our industry’s high achieving young professionals, presenting their ideas and projects. There will be awards for the best presentations, not to mention bragging rights for all involved!

We invite all leaders and managers to encourage members of your teams to submit a presentation for the Symposium and to come along and support them. Any and all interesting or exciting projects are welcome. If you’ve solved a particularly difficult problem for a client, found an innovative way to use new technology or just done something really cool, we’d love to hear about it!

Young professional: employed in the survey or spatial industry, including government, aged 36 or under on 1 June 2022
Early Career Researcher: an academic within 5 years of award of their PhD, and as accepted by the Australian Research Council
Student: Current full time university or TAFE student

Following the symposium, join us for networking drinks, a meet and greet with our sponsors and the official Locate22 welcome ceremony.

We’re also hosting a dedicated YP workshop on professional development, covering essential skills like communication, career progression and networking. Coupled with mentoring opportunities, this will give our younger delegates a unique experience to get the most value out of Locate and bring new skills back to the office.

To support their attendance at Locate, reduced registration fees apply for all member young professionals, early career researchers and students.
