PSMA Australia is an unlisted public company owned by Australia’s federal, state and territory governments. Our goal is to facilitate broad and sustainable access to high-quality location data.
We offer national geospatial data derived from authoritative sources. This comprises seven datasets, which the private and public sectors are incorporating into an ever-expanding range of business solutions.
Our information is provided by government bodies at all levels. We standardise and format the data, and put it through our quality assurance process. It is then transformed as necessary to create our datasets, which are updated every 90 days.
We also produce datasets for use in mobile applications and internet-connected devices, including Internet of Things applications and services. These require a different production pipeline to ensure quality and accuracy.
PSMA collaborates broadly with industry and our global peers. We encourage partnerships with the private sector and regularly consult and engage with our sister organisations around the world. This includes sharing information, collaborating on technology and negotiating agreements with governments and government bodies such as Eurographics, CAF (Development Bank of Latin America) and the Pan-American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH).
Our data management processes have been trialled in Europe and we played a key role in negotiating a data-sharing agreement covering Australia, the Americas and Europe.
